People are asking, "Is Mount Carmel Wyoming Shutting Down?"
People have asked us if Mount Carmel in Wyoming is shutting down. Absolutely not. Our monastery is doing very well and flourishing. We are not sure why people keep asking whether our Carmelite Monastery is shutting down. All of our monks are in good standing with the Diocese of Cheyenne. We are on friendly terms with Bishop Steven Biegler and the entire diocese. You can read about Bishop Steven Biegler's last visit to our Carmelite Monastery here.
We did move recently from Clark, Wyoming to Meeteetse, Wyoming. So we did shut down our monastery in Clark. We were able to sell the property and put the funds into our final monastery in Meeteetse. It was a relief to shut down our Mount Carmel in Clark since it is difficult to have two properties at once. This has been a real blessing.
We are still flourishing with many vocations and have a very large novitiate. We live a very strict horarium that you can read about here: Carmelite Monks Horarium. Our monastery is very stable and on good footing in every way.
Our monks hope that this answers your question of whether Mount Carmel Wyoming is shutting down. The answer is a strong no.
